Back to the Sound-Off Room
Celeine's Planet Hollywood Review July 10, 1998
My "Planet Hollywood" experience was awesome, yet kind of disappointing
towards the end (you'll find out why later on).
Well, I didn't know that I was going until my mom called at around 10am
that day & told me that my aunt would be the one to take me. I hurried off to
get ready, which took me a LONG time. Hehe... So my aunt, 3 year-old cousin
(serious! 3 yr. old ~ she loves Zac), & I finally left around 12:55-1:00pm. No
worry! We lived so close by anyway. My uncle had called before telling us it
didn't seem like anyone was there, from the outside though. We arrived at the
parking lot at 1:15pm. We got our validation, then ran to the restaurant. I
thought there was no one there, but when we opened the door...*bam*! TONS of
ppl were there waiting in line. Some weren't even there to eat lunch. They
were just there, with their cameras, for a chance to see Hanson. Good thing
the manager didn't mind at all. He even let the ones who waited there since
6am go up stairs during the press conference and meet Hanson themselves.
So, we managed to get the waitress's attention & she handed us the restaurant
beeper, which meant only one thing. A one to two hour wait for seats. No
matter! It was still fun antisipating for their arrival. I even got a chance
to chat with a few Hanson fans. By 1:45, the place was packed with newscasters
& reporters. For sure we saw ppl from ABC channel 7, channel 9, & loads more.
The cameras were even focused on us. I definitely waved!
It was already passed 2:00 & everyone was there inside, piling in front of
the stairs that leaded to the second floor where the conference was being
held. Finally, we knew, Hanson was already up stairs without our
acknowledgments. I guess they entered at some secret entrance. Whatever! This
also meant, there was no way we would be able to see them. The great thing for
me was every great moment happened on time. One, the waitress finally paged
us, the press conference was starting & they televised it only at Planet
Hollywood, which had HUGE television screens, but the best part was when my
aunt noticed a shadow coming from upstairs. So, we moved to the far end of the
restaurant, where the balcony was (if you've been there, you'll know what I
mean). AHHHHH!!!!! There was Hanson with their backs facing at us. Though they
were upstairs, it was still a close angle. My aunt, cousin, & I started
yelling, "Zac!" LoL! Suddenly, about only 9 other ppl joined us, which was so
cool. The others had no idea that we could see Hanson from where we were
standing.
They were still by the stairs. Hehe...During the whole time, we
yelled "Zac!"..."Zachary!"..."Turn around!"..."Ike!" Mostly the Mom's were
screaming (there were only two ~ i.e. my aunt). I wanted to yell "Tay!" but why
spoil the moment. LoL! My cousin even yelled a loud "ZAC!" Hehe...she was a
crazier fan then I was. Zac kept turning around to wave at us. It was so
hilarious because someone finally yelled, "take your clothes off!" LoL!!! When
they didn't turn around for a while, we started yelling at Jessica who was
there during the whole time. I don't know what she was hugging. Maybe her
jacket! Anyway, we were like, "Jessica!" Then she waved back! Then we
continued on..."Jessica, tell your brothers to turn around!" When we said that,
some girl said Jessica stuck her tongue out at us (uncertain) as though she
thought we were crazy. She was right! It was crazy! We got the waiters really
angry because we were in their way while they were taking orders. LoL! But
still! We kept yelling & screaming. The camera was even focused at us during
one point. It nearly blinded us with its bright light, but who cares! We waved
like crazy! Then, a waiter dropped some metal dishes, which caused Zac to
really turn around & stare at us. He looked to see where the sound was coming
from, smiled at us, & turned back. Ahh! He was so adorable looking! Oh yeah!
Here's what they were wearing - Ike had a reddish blouse that was unbuttoned,
but he had some darkish/white shirt underneath & his hair was down. Tay wore
this blouse with mixed colors of green, yellow, & red, & his hair was finally
tied back. And Zac wore a gray shirt & his hair was down. We couldn't see what
kind of pants they were wearing; we didn't want to look. After all, their backs
were towards us & you know what that means. LoL! We continued yelling all
sorts of stuff! We even asked a waiter to drop more dishes. Hehe...
Finally!
The Press Conference ended and guess what? They stood up, turned around, & all
three waved at us for like a few seconds. It was an opportunity for us to take
pics, but I didn't bring my camera. *darnet* Ahhh! I think we were the only
ones (exclude those who got to go upstairs) who actually saw them. Ahhh!
After that, ppl started running outside. I had no clue where they were
going, so I just decided to sit-down & eat. After 5 min. I knew I had no
appetite because I was too excited, so I ran to see where everyone was. They
were all lined up at the back outdoor parking lot to probably see the guys
leave. There was a back door entrance & a back upstairs balcony. Man! The
lines were long! I ran back to get my aunt & cousin, pay for the bill, & pack
up our food to go. We too wanted to wait outside. By then it was probably 3pm
something. We waited for a half-hour for them. Girls chatted w/the bodyguards
& some even sang their a capella version of "MMMBop." Suddenly, three girls
came by the outdoor balcony waving at us. Saying they're with Hanson right
now. Girls knew they were just showing-off. They told us that Hanson were just
eating & will be out in a few minutes. One girl started screaming..."What are
they eating??!!!!" LoL! We waited a bit more. Strangely, tons of trucks
started coming into the parking lot, which distracted us for a while. While
other ppl were paying so much attention to the back door, the guards, & the
trucks, my aunt and I were just looking towards the street. Suddenly, a black
LONG limousine pulled up by the side. No one noticed, except for us & a few --
maybe three other ppl. It honked its horn, so all I could do was wave back &
smile! Then, it left right away. I had no clue who it was. Then, I started
getting suspicious. The guards earlier were gone, those 3 girls who were at
the balcony earlier left as well & started smiling/giggling at us while they
were walking down the street (again! No one noticed), & then some mom said they
saw some ppl run like "vegetables" during the time the big trucks came in.
Finally, a guard broke the news to us Hanson fans. They had claimed that
Hanson were gone. Some girls started yelling. No one believed them at first.
But we knew the guards were serious, so we all left. The trucks may have been
some decoy. The bad part was girls started bad mouthing the guards &
yelling..."Man! Hanson sucks now!" I also noticed some girls began crying. They
had come all the way just to see nothing, except for their image on screen. I
felt so sorry. So, we left too. My cousin wanted to cry because she so badly
wanted to see Zac again. She may be two, but she knows Hanson more than
anything. I taught her that. LoL! On the way home, I began thinking, who was
inside that black limo? Was it Hanson? Maybe! Maybe not! All I knew is that I
had fun! I got to see them, right? They even smiled at us! (ooooh! Those were
very cute smiles). We listened to "MMMBop" in the car, & my cousin took over
the whole song singing like there was no tomorrow (she knows every word--
kind of). We hurried home because we had a hunch it would be televised on the
news. We were right though! It was! Though it was not us on screen, the news
crew was nice enough to interview a few fans.
Well, that's it! See! It was somewhat awesome & disappointing. But I'll
never forget this experience. I just hope the "Hollywood Bowl" concert will be
just as memorable. I can bet on that for sure! I hope all of you get to meet
Hanson. Not just in concert, but at a place were there isn't thousands of ppl
shoving you!!!! Hehe.....! =)
