Night at the Net Charity Event
Kristina's Review
July 26, 1999

I went to the tennis center in order to watch the match, and was completely stoked when I found out that it was a Celebrity Charity event. I had a small inkling that reasoned, "It's a charity match, and Hanson's in Los Angeles, so..." Of course I thought I was just being way too hopeful, and attended the match alone. It was really cool; I thought it was going to be a real match with ranked players, but however, it happened to be Pete Sampras and Robin Williams vs. Andre Agassi and Billy Crystal. The entire game was hilarious! Robin Williams even did the "Nanu! Nanu!" thing. I was sitting in my chair, laughing, when I saw three long blond heads, three dark colored heads, and really, really, long hair. My attention immediately went to that section of seats, and who did I find out it was? Hanson, Mr. Sabec, Walker, this young man who's name was Jeff, Hanson and Diana. My eyes went wide and I took my camera out to snap some pictures. After the match was done, and countless jokes later, the game was done. I was walking back to where my brother was going to pick me up and I saw two little girls, who sadly, I didn't get their names and they were yelling, "Run after them!" I immediately knew it was Hanson they were talking about and then I asked if they were Hanson fans. My hunch was correct and then they pointed to where Hanson went and ran with me. Since I was most likely 5-7 years older than they were (I'm 17), I ran faster. I swear, these two little girls were adorable. The smiles on their faces just made me promise that if I didn't get to see Hanson in person, then I'd do anything to let them see Hanson. I ran after Hanson and they followed, and all of a sudden, one of them told me to follow them and get Hanson's autograph for them. I told them not to be afraid and I lead the two little girls right to Hanson. I knew they looked up to me, just because I was older. Well, we met Mr. Sabec, who is a really nice guy, and this guy named Jeff. Jeff was extremely nice. While we waited there for Hanson to come out of Pauley Pavillion (apparently they needed to use the restroom or something of the like), Jeff came up to me and introduced himself to me. He instigated the conversation, and I felt completely at ease. Taylor came out first and shook my hand first, but bent down to accomodate to the requests of the little girls. I felt so much admiration for him because he was so polite to the little girls. I just looked on as Taylor was crouched and signing his name, and then Zac and Isaac came out the door. I was still trying to catch my breath from running all that way, so I had said "Oh my god" when Zac came out, and he looked at me weird. Oh well, first impressions can't always be perfect. I immediately turned to my ultra hyper self and chirped, "Hi!" He said, "Um, hi," but shook my hand anyway. I shook Isaac's hand shortly after, but then, remembering that my brother was waiting, I, being very idiotic, smiled and said, "I think I should be going now." In which I did, and I ran all the way to where my brother was to pick me up. It turned out that my brother wasn't even there, and I had to wait, all alone, at 10:00pm in the dark near the exit of the parking structure. I saw Hanson exit in a large dark colored Land Cruiser, and they kind of eyed me suspiciously, but drove on. Maybe they felt sorry for me, a young woman, waiting in the dark all alone. But oh well, our paths might cross again, or may not. But guess what? I didn't get their autographs. I didn't feel as if I needed it. I treated them as regular human beings, which made me, and them feel more at ease. I just wished that I got to talk to them longer. If I wasn't so polite and nice and caring about my family, this could have all had a better outcome. But for right now, I am quite content.
