Back to the Sound-Off Room
Hanson outside of the KLOS studios (Dec, 2001)

First let me explain that I am a Mom of a Hanson fan, and through her, I became a Hanson fan, too. We have had the opportunity to meet them several times and I am always amazed at how kind and polite they are. This is a little story about when we met them after they were interviewed by Mark & Brian at KLOS-FM.
I was woken up that morning by my darling daughter, Breezy, literally leaping into my room, yelling that a friend had just called her and that.....are you ready for this?.....Hanson was going to be at a local radio station that morning! It took me a minute to digest the information and about two minutes to decide that Breeze was ditching school that morning. I can't remember the last time I got myself together so quickly. Am I the only one who wakes up looking like Don King?
Anyway, this is a radio station I had never been to and the traffic was terrible! And, of course, on the street where the radio station is, there was construction going on and traffic was at a standstill. I was actually wondering just how far I could drive on the sidewalk but I've learned the hard way that Volvos don't make the best off-road vehicles. So, instead, I just sat in the traffic and thought really bad thoughts about the city and their decision to do construction WHEN HANSON IS IN TOWN!!!
By the time we got to the station, Hanson had already gone in. Thankfully, they are like me - always seem to be late. My mother always said I will be late for my own funeral.....which will be fine since I'm not really looking forward to it anyway.
We waited outside with the other Hanson fans. That is one of the wonderful things about being a Hanson fan is getting to know other fans, as well. We got to talking about all our different Hanson experiences and which songs we liked the best - and wondering when their next album was coming out - which was really one of the main topics!
Hanson came out and walked over to where we were standing and shook everyone's hands and autographed items. They were so sweet and looked great. Isaac was growing a little goatee and Breezy and I decided later that we liked it on him. But it took a few minutes to register - I keep forgetting they are getting older - unlike me :-). Breezy was standing by the gate while Taylor was signing things for everyone and she said to one of the other girls, "I feel like such a loser - I forgot to bring something for them to sign. I don't want to be, like, oh, Taylor, touch me..." and with that, Taylor grabbed her hand. I'm surprised she didn't faint dead away.
We laughed later about forgetting to bring something to sign and I said that Breezy already had their autographs (several times over) and she was kind enough to let me know there was no limit on how many you could have! See, it was also an educational day, as well.
What's funny is the night before that Breezy and I were out shopping at a music store and she was saying how she missed "her boys" and she couldn't wait to see them again. God must have been listening!
I took her to school afterwards and she had to go into the office and pretend that she had been sick that morning. Yeah, yeah, I know, one more mark on the "All the Wrong Things Colleen Is Teaching Her Children" board, but IT WAS HANSON!!!
