Bridget Meets Hanson at Sweet98 Studios
On March 10, 2000
My friends Melissa, Lauren, and I headed down to Sweet 98 at about 8:30am.
Although, I was pretty positive about meeting them, I wanted to show my
support and just have fun down there all day. So basically we just hung out
until about 1:30 when I was called in to help out. I went into Sweet 98 and
just helped them hand out banners and interview fans. My best friend,
Melissa, was hoping to get in because she knows the producer's niece. Well,
as luck would have it, he sent me out at about 3 to go get her! :) She hung
out kinda in the lobby part, and me, being an intern, had to pick up emails
regarding questions the fans had for Hanson. Hanson was suppose to be there about 4, but
knowing Hanson, they walked in the door a bit late. I was busy doing the
email thing when they walked in and Taylor said "Hey" to Melissa. Then they
had to sign some stuff for Sweet 98 and make a little commercial. So,
Melissa came back and was like, "Bridget, they're here." I hopped out of the
room, and waited to see them. They came back out and they were talking to Melissa! I was dieing! Taylor
asked her if she was the intern, and she said, "No, but my best friend,
Bridget, over there is." So, they all looked over and I just waved and said
"Hi" and they said hi back. They chatted for a little bit and then it was
time to head into the studio for the interview.
They just talked to them about not
exciting stuff, but let me tell you, when Hanson isn't being recorded, they
are so adorable and down to earth! We stood in the studio as they were
interviewed and as they sang "If Only." Their voices were incredible. I
don't think I've ever heard anything more beautiful! They were there to
announce the Sweetstock artists which they are trying really hard to be able
to come, and as they were practicing they were cracking up! And they quoted
lines from "So I Married an Axe Murderer" for a few minutes.
Once they were
done in there, Melissa and I took our chance and began talking to them
again. Zac kinda dashed, but Melissa and I talked to Ike and Taylor for
about 5-10 minutes. Don't worry, we didn't freak out! We were totally
normal! Taylor just asked me if I was the intern, and we talked about the
new single, blah, blah. But he was so sweet and genuinely seemed interested
in what I was saying! Me, being stupid and not being able to think of
anything to say, said to Taylor, "Gosh, you guys are bigger than I thought
you'd be." But Taylor was totally cool, and he squatted down and he said,
"Would you like us to be this big?" and smiled. Our conversations were
basically just full of cute moments like those! After those few minutes of
heaven, the guy who was with them (who was pretty much a jerk) was like,
"come on guys, we've gotta go" He threw their coats at them, and Taylor
said, "Oh come on, we've gotta take this picture." (talking about one with
Melissa and I) So, they took a picture, which is now both of our prized
possessions! :) They went out and shook some fans hands (and shook mine and
melissa's like 3x each!) Then they headed up to Sokol for a Q&A session.
Nothing upclose and personal but I did record it on a cassette tape. So, I
guess that was Hanson. Other little things, Taylor told Melissa he like her
hair, coat, and shirt! hehe..so that was cool :)
I probably didn't do the best job descibing it, it was so surreal. You
don't imagine them as real people until you're literally a foot away from
them having a normal conversation. I can die now :)
